1Of course each instrument has its own requirements but I have tried these strings on 3 fine instruments for professional use. They are thin and tend to vibrate in a way that feels somewhat unnatural under the fingers. In addition, the sound is brash, single-dimensional, and without many subtle qualities. It’s true that they are remarkably stable but I consider this secondary to performance and sound.

2I have two fiddles-one for bluegrass and one for old time. The bluegrass fiddle is strung with Dominants, and the old time fiddle with Helicores. I put Helicores on the old time fiddle so I could cross tune it without having to worry about breaking strings. They sound so good I’m considering replacing the Dominants on my other fiddle as well. Good strings. Stable, retune easily and hold a tuning quickly.

3The G string snapped as soon as I tried to tune it….. Maybe my set was faulty since the other reviews are good but buy with caution. I am really disappointed.

4I replaced my original acoustic violin strings with these, and I absolutely love these. For the price, they sound wonderful! They were broke in within a week or less (I play probably 30 min to 60 min a day). I have really not had to tune these at all since then. I will be ordering another set of these very soon for my electric violin and another set as a back up. I also recommended these strings to my violin student who is in desperate need of new strings. The strings come with string protectors for the A and E strings.
